Partner in the picture: Foodatelier César and Alvinnenberg vzw
Every Thursday, Foodatelier César and Alvinnenberg prepare food together at maakleerplek. Their shared kitchen brings people together around healthy food.
Cooking together at maakleerplek
On Thursdays, the delicious aromas from Foodatelier César's kitchen fill maakleerplek. They enjoy sharing this meal-preparation session, cutting vegetables for fresh soup and school meals, with Alvinnenberg vzw. This organisation supports adults with intellectual or multiple disabilities.
Foodatelier César wants its kitchen to be a welcoming community space, because cooking is an accessible activity that connects people.
People supported by organisations such as Alvinnenberg often face more barriers to accessing and learning about healthy food. Through partnerships like this, we help people find their way.
A partnership with Alvinnenberg
The partnership came about quite by chance, following a request from a student at Woudlucht who was looking for daytime activities.
We also had contacts at Alvinnenberg and Ter Bank, and started talking to them.
Newcomers looking for their first work experience are welcome too, as are people seeking a meaningful activity after a burnout, for example. In short: anyone interested in food.
50 kg of apple sauce
The collaboration runs smoothly and creates a warm, enjoyable atmosphere. There are now pastries every Thursday, and the speakers come out for some music. One of their favourite activities was making 50 kg of apple sauce, which we then preserved and which several kitchens are now trying out.
